HERE ARE A FEW THINGS YOU WILL WANT TO KNOW AS WE GET READY TO BEGIN THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR:
SCHOOL BOARD MEETING: The first School Board Meeting of the 2018-19 school year will be held on Wednesday, August 15th at 7PM in the PHS Library.
BUS INFORMATION: We have pushed back the distribution of bus information to next week, the week of August 13th - stay tuned! Information will be sent via email for your student(s). Questions can be directed to Gerry Giarratana at 610-847-5131, ext. 5002 or email firstname.lastname@example.org Bus exception forms are required for students who are not being transported to or from their home address (ie., babysitting/daycare). The Bus Exception Form is attached here for your convenience - Bus Exception Form 2018-19
RETURNING STUDENT INFORMATION: Also, next week you will receive the electronic Returning Student Form to complete and update your student's info. This is extremely important for you to complete and submit as soon as possible. We have a number of families who do not complete the form promptly and it impedes our ability to communicate with you efficiently or to provide your child with the services they require, ie., nursing services. PLEASE COMPLETE UPON RECEIPT! It will be very helpful.
SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAM: The price for an elementary lunch has increased to $2.70; middle and high school price remains the same at $3.15 for a lunch. You can set up an account to pay for your student's lunches online at https://www.schoolcafe.com/ - any questions, please contact Gerry Giarratana at 610-847-5131, ext. 5002 or email email@example.com
MY SCHOOL BUCKS: We will be expanding our use of My School Bucks (an online payment system for items such as some field trips, parking fees for PHS students, Advance Placement fees, Pay to Play for sports, etc.); you will need an account to participate in the online payment option as we roll it out. You can set up an account by visiting www.myschoolbucks.com
MORE ABOUT FOOD: A change is being implemented this school year regarding bringing in items for classroom parties, birthdays or other celebrations. This year, we are asking that only store bought items be brought into school for such occasions. We will allow only items baked or packaged in a "safe serve" certified environment to be brought into celebrate during the school day. If this poses any financial difficulty, you may contact Mr. Giarratana for other arrangements for your treat!
WEBSITE MIGRATION: We are in the process of moving over our district's website to a new platform. The changes are underway, however, when we do launch our new site, there is some clean up that will remain. Thanks for your patience as we improve our site (at a lower cost) while complying with federal rules surrounding ADA compliance which is required. This will be a work in progress through the Fall.
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS: They are scheduled for the last week in August - 8/28 (PHS), 8/29 (PALMS) and 8/30 (Elementary); notices and information will be sent from the building principals shortly.
VOLUNTEER CLEARANCES: Don't get caught without clearances for an upcoming field trip or event in which you would like to participate with your child. Please see our clearance policy and links to obtain them by visiting this page for information - Volunteering in Schools
STADIUM SIGN SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: There is plenty of room for additional sponsorship signs for local businesses and organizations in the Walter T. Rohrer Stadium; please contact Brian Gilbert, Athletic Director, if you are interested - 610-847-5131, ext. 2009 or email Brian at firstname.lastname@example.org
EMPLOYMENT AT PALISADES: As jobs become available, they are posted on our site - please check this link for any recent postings: Recent Postings

STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE: Please see the two items inserted here to learn more about purchasing voluntary student accident insurance for your child - this is a voluntary program available to Palisades families to assist with any unreimbursed medical expenses. NOTE: (*) Palisades School District does NOT carry medical insurance on students, therefore injuries that occur while participating in non-athletic, school-sponsored activities are covered by the student’s personal medical insurance.
