    Ms. Janet Link, Principal

    2016/17School Year

The Tinicum Tigers are looking forward to another wonderful year of learning and growing!  Tinicum Elementary School has a fine history of outstanding academic achievement, recently receiving the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Academics in 2013, and a School Performance Profile Rating of 91.5 in 2014 and 2015. We are equally committed to helping students grow socially and emotionally, and as such, were the recipient of 2009 Pennsylvania School of Character Award.  We have also been focusing on student wellness (including our student vegetable gardens, greenhouse, and gaga pit)  and on parent/community engagement.   Currently, we are working with  Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve to install a "pocket meadow" in our garden space. This area will then be used to support environmental education.

     This year, our goals are:
    • Enhance student  motivation and achievement in reading, with particular focus on developing daily reading habits and composing written responses to reading (TDA's)
    • Support the social/emotional development of students through school-wide implementation of the updated Second Step program
    • Strengthen home/school communication regarding student progress through implementing an updated standards-based report card
    • Continue to expand the use of technology to enhance teaching and learning
Feel free to reach out to me at anytime via phone (610) 847-5131, x 7001, email at jlink@palisadessd.org , or just by stopping in.  I will also be communicating with parents throughout the year via weekly principal's updates.

I'm looking forward to working with you!
