Dr. Bridget O'Connell, Superintendent
39 Thomas Free Drive
Dear Palisades Community,
“Growing stronger together” is the theme that we have chosen for this year’s calendar because of the priority the Palisades community places on developing relationships, both personal and professional, which are the foundation for the important work that we do to support the achievements of our students.
I am inspired by the outpouring of generosity for those less fortunate during the holiday season; the love and support that is shown to those who suffer grief, loss, or other personal challenges when they occur; the involvement of many volunteers throughout the school year for various events; and the willingness to provide feedback and input to our administrators and school board directors on programs and services. These actions and many others are evidence of your commitment to our district’s mission.
As you may know, this year marks the beginning of our newest Comprehensive Plan, which guides our efforts through 2019. Many members of our community, along with teachers, staff, and administrators were involved in its creation. The Plan encompasses our focus on innovative ideas in the areas of academic achievement, technology integration in the classroom, community engagement and providing an enriching environment for students to learn and grow.
The “core competencies” expressed in each month of this calendar were developed as part of this new Comprehensive Plan. They remind us of the important characteristics we strive to instill in our students as they mature and become young adults who are prepared for college and the workplace upon graduation.
I’m excited about the 2016-2017 school year as we grow stronger together. As we work toward this goal, please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions about the district, the comprehensive plan or how you can become involved to support our students or to provide feedback on our programs and services. Thank you for your continued support of the Palisades School District and I wish you all the best throughout the upcoming year.
Yours in education,
Dr. Bridget O’Connell
