Our Mission Statement

As the Social Studies Department at Palisades High School, we believe it our mission to “teach students the content knowledge, intellectual skills, and civic values necessary for fulfilling the duties of citizenship in a participatory democracy.“ (National Council for the Social Studies). 

The courses we offer include studies in American History, World History, Civics and Government, Economics, Geography, Global Education, and Cultural Diversity.  Through an integrated study of social studies topics, our goal is to have all students gain competence in the knowledge, concepts and skills that will enable them to take their places in our complex, democratic society.
