Dear Friends,

Welcome back to another exciting school year in the Palisades School District!  I am pleased to announce we were recently notified that all of the schools in our district have met Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the seventh consecutive year!  This is a tremendous achievement for our district.  It undeniably demonstrates the commitment of our teachers, staff, administrators, students, parents and others to “inspire a passion for learning, a commitment to excellence and a respect for individuals and diversity” within our students as is set forth in our mission statement.  As the school year commences, we will continue to expand on our successes, evaluate areas in which improvement is needed, and monitor the programs and services we have in place; our ultimate goal is to improve student achievement and development.

This year’s overarching theme, “Making Connections,” reflects the way we best learn and perform our work to enrich the lives of our students.  We “make connections” with students in many ways: bringing relevance to the content they must learn, helping them achieve high academic standards, assisting their exploration of extra curricular and co-curricular interests, and preparing them for their post secondary endeavors.  We “make connections” with each other to reach our professional goals, as well as with parents and other community members to gain support and understanding for our efforts.

“Making Connections” is critical to the success of our programs.  Our students rely on support and encouragement of those around them to continue to make the gains and improvements necessary to achieve success.  By developing the proper tools for our students in the areas of curriculum, materials and resources, assessments, instruction, standards and interventions, we will continue to focus on each student as an individual and help them to achieve their highest level of performance.

Specific areas of focus for our team will be the embellishment of our music programs, development of global competency and attention to wellness and nutrition.  You will be hearing more about our progress in these and other areas as the year advances.

Once again, it is my privilege to serve the students and families of the Palisades School District.  Also, it is my honor to be a part of the team of administrators, board members, teachers and staff who work tirelessly to provide the best possible education for our children.

Warmest regards,
