Don't forget to check out a local summer concert. There are lots of outdoor free concerts in many of the Townships in the area. Nockamixon, Quakertown and Perkasie have Concerts in the Parks series. Doylestown has free outdoor lunchtime concerts at the courthouse. You can find the schedule for your area on the www.phillyburbs.com website. It will be posted by June 15, 2010.
During the 2009-2010 school year, the string students were working towards our 19th Annual String concert, "Strings Go West" which we performed on Thursday, April 22, 2010, 7:00 PM in the Palisades High School auditorium. All of the string students in grades 3-12 performed variations of Traditional, folk and "fiddle" music. We also hosted some guest artisits from the area. Miles Necker (a student at Pennridge High School) and Brendan Ferris (a home-school student,) performed a "fiddle" duet. Mrs. Alison Gillespie (Violin/Celtic fiddle teacher at Moravian College), performed a fiddle duet with other previously named artists, Andrew Hollenbach, a Palisades High School junior and her husband Tom Gillespie on the guitar. I hope you were able to join us for a very fun evening of contemporary, traditional and Irish Fiddle Music.
