National School Lunch Program(NSLP)- We participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), which allows us to offer components of a healthy meal to our students. To qualify as a reimbursable, (federally subsidized), meal under the NSLP program, a student must choose 3 of the 5 components to complete their lunch.  Components as such:

  • Milk  8 oz.
  • Vegetable and/or Fruit
  • ½ cup K-3
  • ¾ cup 4-12
  • Fruit, and/or Vegetable ½ cup K-3, ¾ cup 4-12  total
  • Main meal protein, meat, poultry, fish or replacement. 2-3 oz. (based on age)
  • Whole grain
In the event a student does not complete the 3 components, as their lunch choice, we will not qualify to receive federal reimbursement. Additionally a la carte pricing may apply to the purchase(s).
Free and Reduced Lunch Program- Under the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) a free or reduced lunch benefit is available based on certain qualifications. Eligible families are encouraged to apply for these benefits. All information provided is completely confidential and children receiving this benefit are not identified, they enter their PIN or transaction and the POS system does the rest. The process to apply can be either online at compass@state.pa.us or by completing a paper form available at your school’s office (for more information please go to our Free or Reduced Lunch information page).
Public Law 108-365 required all School Districts to adopt a Wellness Policy including Nutritional Guidelines for Competitive Foods, defined as any food offered in competition with the National School Lunch Program during the school day.  The federal mandate required the policy to become effective on July 1, 2006.
